We recently sat down with our People & Events Manager Amy to talk about all things organisation and event planning. Here is what she had to say!
Introduce yourself
I live in Bedfordshire with my husband and three children. I love socialising and being around family and friends so you will often find us hosting a BBQ or party of some sort.
What are your top three tips for perfection in events management
- Always plan and prepare
- Always have more than you need, it’s better to have too much than not enough
- Enjoy it! Events are meant to be a chance to meet new people or have a catch up, so have fun
What’s the hardest aspect of running events and how do you get around that
The hardest thing is initially confirming dates / venues, people live busy lives and getting everyone in the same room at the same time can be difficult to make decisions that work for everyone. However, once that’s all confirmed then the rest follows. I’d say being persistent is the key.
How did you get into people and events management
I’ve always been a really sociable person and when I started at Bolland & Co I was a bit more behind the scenes, mainly working on office and people management. It was a natural progression to move into events when the opportunity came up.
What’s your favourite thing about working at Bolland & Co
I love that we don’t all have to be in the same place to have good relationships, even though I’m based in London we use Slack to speak to each other everyday and often we either have a call to catch up on what needs doing or just a quick natter about the weekend. Another thing I like is the fact that it’s a professional but relaxed atmosphere, yes we have swinging chairs and beers on a Friday, but when the work needs doing all the team chip in.
Amy is new to Twitter, so show her some love and make sure you follow her to stay up to date on all things events!
